The Distortion World
The Distorton World is an entirely new place, introduced in Pokemon Platinum. This new area is the home of Giratina, a Pokemon that also has new changes to it. The Distortion World is a barren place, having no items or Pokemon, and moving platforms at different heights as the only way to get around.
The Distortion World is accessable through Spear Pillar, when chasing Team Galactic who want to wake up Dialga and Palkia. Just go up to the top the same way as in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, and after a long stream of text, you will be transported into the new world. You can only go here a couple more times, so cherish each moment you have.
The Distortion World also has many tricks to it, like objects appearing and disappering. Some of these objects are trees, rocks, or platforms. So if you are ever stumped on where to go, take a walk up to an object and it may just disappear, or if you see a peninsula in a platform, jump off and another platform will appear. This is one of the key things to getting around the Distortion World.
As well as disappearing objects, sometimes the laws of gravity are broken. An example of this is when you have to surf upside down in one part. The controls do stay the same though, up is up on the screen and down is down on the screen. It may be confusing, so try not to lose it when you are in here.
Once you get near the end of the Distortion World, you will have to do a Strength-puzzle, with the help of some legendary friends (Mespirit, Azelf, and Uxie). In this puzzle, you have to push boulders down openings in platforms in order to unlock other areas, which are necessary to reach the end of the Distortion World.
After you complete the Strength-puzzle, go through the new unlocked area and meet up with none other than, Cyrus! The leader of Team Galactic! He will ask to battle you, and after that, you are allowed to go to the very end of the area.
At the end of the Distortion World lives Giratina, in its Origin Forme. You are forced to battle it, and at a level 47, you'd better be prepared. It should be a fairly-easy capture, though.
After the Elite Four
After you defeat the Elite Four, you will be able to enter Turnback Cave. Follow the same pattern here as you did in Diamond or Pearl, get to a room with three pillars before you hit a 30 room count. In this room, instead of fighting Giratina like in previous games, there is a portal. Enter this portal and you will be brought into a smaller area of the Distortion World.
This is a rather dull area, with just a flat perspective and a few platforms. Get to the end of this and you will find an item called the Girseous Orb. This item is used to keep Giratina in its Origin Forme outside of the Distortion World.
